Workshop set in Rocky Boy for entrepreneurs

People interested in succeeding in the world of small business have a chance to learn some tips next week in a workshop on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation.

The Chippewa Cree Tribal Planning and Development Department will host a two-day workshop at the Stone Child College Conference Room. The course is meant to help Natives looking to launch or expand a small business, a press release from RedWind, a technical assistance group that will provide the training, says.

“This workshop is one of several key steps toward our goal of helping create economic self-sufficiency and prosperity for individuals and our tribal communities,” Trevor Standing Rock, economic development specialist for the Chippewa Cree Tribe, said in the release.

  The release says the Native American Entrepreneurial Empowerment Workshop, set for Wednesday, Aug. 16, and Thursday, Aug. 17, is provided with support from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Native American Affairs

The workshop is one of 15 RedWind has been hired to present to Native American communities across the country in 2017. The course will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m  both days and is free and open to the public.

Refreshments and all class materials will be provided.

Basic bookkeeping, problem solving, access to capital, marketing, business models and break even analyses will be among the topics discussed.
