Fort Belknap Indian Community is continuing its push to urge people to buy and sell locally, holding its People’s Market in conjunction with the Hays Community Pow-Wow this weekend.
Thursday at the Hays Community Garden, across from the Hays post office, vendors will set up tables to sell a variety of goods.
Fort Belknap started holding its People’s Market, a market in the same style as what is commonly called a farmers market or makers market, earlier this year,
Thursday, vendors are invited to set up in the afternoon, 2 p.m. or earlier, and sell products through 7 p.m. People are asked to bring their own tables, and the fee to set up is $20 per space. Return vendors receive a discount.
The market is set for the second day of the 2017 Hays Community Pow-wow, which started today with a youth Ultimate Health Challenge this morning and Thursday with an adult Ultimate Health Challenge at 9 a.m. and a youth-only powwow starting at 5 p.m.
The powwow continues through the weekend, with a grand entry and competitions starting Friday at 7 p.m. and a breakfast, giveaway and parade Saturday and dancing and other activities following grand entries at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday also includes a breakfast and activities starting with a grand entry at 1 p.m.
