Grief Poem - We don't forget

The day you left just broke my heart but love’s still safe inside.

You’re missed so much, more every day, though part of me has died.

Its been some years since you’re been gone, you’re greatly missed each day.

Our heart does ache, it’s lonely here since you were called away.

If ‘memory gates’ don’t ever close, we’re never far apart.

We won’t forget that we love you; you’re ever in our heart.

Our home’s lonely without you dear; life’s simply not the same.

When God calls us to come on home, we’ll see you once again!

The ‘light’ from our household is gone! A voice we loved is still.

Vacant places are in our home which never can be filled.

You’re free from pain my dearest one, for you are up above.

Though we feel sad and miss you so, God called you home, my love.

In quiet thoughts we do relive the days that used to be.

You loved and cared and showed kindness, memories so dear to me.

May ‘winds of love’ so softly blow and whisper in your ear,

We love you dear and miss you much; we wish that you were here.

Someday, we know we’ll meet again; - someday – we don’t know when….

To clasp your hand in better lands, we’ll never part again.

A special star shines very bright; it’s time to say ‘Goodnight!’

We’ll close our eyes and think of you, wish for sweet dreams tonight.

Our Lord above knows what is best - for us with broken heart[1].

Someday we too will ‘fly above’ and then we’ll never part.
