Theme set for 2017 Havre Festival Days

From Havre Area Chamber of Commerce

Havre Festival Days planning is underway. The theme for this year’s weekend is “Shadows of our Western Past.” The weekend starts Friday with the Friends of the Library book sale — which actually begins Thursday — the 48-hour softball tournament and the Steve Heil Memorial Car Show.

Havre Festival Days is a tradition reborn. This community event was started after more than a decade no real community celebration after the ever-popular band, or May Festival, was discontinued. This year’s celebration marks the 37th year the Havre community has celebrated Festival Days.

The fun continues Saturday starting with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast and the final Saturday Market at Town Square. The parade, the big event of the Festival Days, highlights the weekend. The fun continues throughout the afternoon with the opening of the Festival of Crafts and Commercial Product Show, E-1 Towing Demolition Derby, KNMC Rock Lotto and Beta are having a dinner and street dance at the Eagles Club.

Sunday, Sept. 17, wraps up the weekend with the final games of the 48-hour softball tournament, the Run of Special Trains, the craft show, the library book sale and the Festival Run/Walk.

Any club or organization that is planning an event during the Festival Days weekend and wants it noted on the event flyer can contact the Chamber at 265-4383. The Chamber will finalize the flyer and poster in July.
