With a slew of Northern A District games looming, the Havre North Stars warmed up for them by going 2-2 at this weekend’s Ed Gallo Memorial Wood Bat Tournament in Whitefish.
Havre started the tourney Thursday with a 5-1 loss to Calgary. The North Stars got a strong pitching effort from Austin Delarosa. Havre bounced back Friday with an 8-7 win over a team from Olympia, Wash., in a game in which Ethan Roberts delivered a 2-run walkoff single. Tony Antley was the winning pitcher.
Saturday, the North Stars fell to the Glacier Twins 5-0, with a strong effort from Kennedy McKay on the mound, but Havre bounced back to finish the weekend with a 12-4 win over the Scobey Blues. Roberts was the winning pitcher.
Havre will now get set for a week’s worth of conference games, starting with a home doubleheader with the Great Falls Chargers on Tuesday. Havre is also home this Saturday.
