The Hill County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident in which someone spilled hundreds of gallons of highway paint at a storage place on Ninth Avenue.
Hill County Sheriff Jamie Ross said this morning they have no suspects as to who opened the valves and let loose paint out of six 250-gallon barrels filled with highway paint. Anyone who has any information, can call the sheriff’s office at 265-2512, or Crime Stoppers at 265-4444, Ross said.
The spill was called in Monday, both to the Havre Police Department, at 4:35 p.m and to the sheriff’s office at 6:04 p.m. The Havre Fire Department responded to the scene after receiving a call at 4:47 p.m. about a hazardous material incident.
Personnel from the fire department called the Montana Department of Transportation, and someone from the MDT called a subcontractor who bordered the spill with sand.
