Independence Bank scholarship winners announced

Independence Bank has announced the recipients of the Independence Bank New Student Scholarship the 2016-2017 academic year. All of the students will be attending Montana State University-Northern and will receive a $1,000 scholarship during their freshman year.

April Balek is graduating from Choteau High School and is planning to major in criminal justice. Her parents are Robbie and Pamela Balek of Choteau.

Brooke Elliot is graduating from Chinook High School and plans to pursue a major in elementary education. Her parents are John Elliot and Stacy Hasler of Chinook.

Colt Pederson is graduating from Shelby High School and plans to major in nursing at Northern. His mother is Tammy Pederson of Shelby.

Cortland Brenna is graduating from Havre High School and plans to major in pre-med. Her parents are Ron and Mayke Brenna and Shari Robinson, all of Havre.

Sarah Morgan is graduating from Ophiem High School and plans to major in criminal justice. Her parents are Rex and Kristy Morgan of Larslan.

Samantha Watson is graduating from North Star High School. She plans to major in elementary education. Her parents are Dave and Karen Watson of Joplin.

The Independence Bank Scholarship is open to incoming freshman students planning to attend MSU-Northern. To be eligible students must graduate from a high school in Hill, Blaine, Phillips, Valley, Roosevelt, Daniels, Sheridan, Liberty, Chouteau, Pondera or Toole counties. Six $1,000 scholarships will be awarded each year. For more information on the Independence Bank Scholarship people can contact their local branch or the MSU-N Financial Aid Office at 265-3787.
