For the second weekend in a row, a high school football all-star game will feature some local talent.
Friday night in Billings, the annual Class B Big Sky All-Star Game will be played, and Harlem's Reece Hutton will be a part of it. Hutton, a Class B All-Stater the last two seasons for the Wildcats will see time on either the offensive or defensive line for the North Team, coached by Cut Bank's Pete Hamilton.
Hutton, who is also a Shrine Game alternate this summer, just wrapped up a stellar spring season of track and field. He won the 2017 Class B state championship in the shot put, helping the Wildcats to one of their best finishes in recent track history.
Hutton will be joined on the North Team Friday night by many fellow Northern B standouts, including Montana State University-Northern recruit Justin Pfeifer. The Class B game marks one of three times Pfeifer, who is projected to play defensive line at MSU-N, will play in summer football games, as he's also a Badlands Bowl and Shrine Game selectee.
Pfeifer will be playing Friday night for his Cut Bank head coach and alongside teammate Peter Hamilton Jr., who's also heading to play for the Lights starting in the fall.
Other Northern B players include, receiver/linebacker Cantor Coverdell, quarterback Luke Batson and linebacker Dawson Peterman will represent District 1B champion Fairfield. Four players from District 2B champion Glasgow are on the unit as well in receiver/defensive back Trent Herbert, running back Benji Phillips, lineman Grant Morken, and receiver/defensive back Luke Breigenzer. Hailing from Shelby are running back Colt Pederson and lineman Marcus Irvin, while running back Hunter Mycke and quarterback Taner Stone, an MSU-N wrestling recruit represent Conrad and Choteau, respectively.
The Big Sky All-Star Game will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday night at Herb Klindt Field in Billings. The 2017 Badlands Bowl, which pits a Montana team against a team from North Dakota, is next up on the summer circuit. That game will be played June 17 in Miles City.
