Class C All-Star games start football's summer

The Blue Team topped the Red Team 77-71 in the Six-Man All-Star Game on Saturday night. Trevor Paro, the sensational talent from Hot Springs and defending state champion Savage Heat, scored seven touchdowns in a losing effort.

Paro, who holds the Six-Man state record for most touchdowns ever recorded, scooted 22 yards to get Red to within 71-64 with six minutes left in the game, but West’s Yellowstone’s Bryce Loomis punched one in from a few yards out with 4:21 remaining to make it 77-64.

Paro, named the offensive MVP for the Red Team, scored from 49 yards out for the game's final score. Colton Becker was the Blue Team's offensive MVP. On defense, Ryan Zentner earned MVP for the Blue while Kane Lawson and Casey Watson shared it for the Red.

Valier's Colton Wheeler and Isaac Ramos notched second-half scores to keep the Red at bay. North Star’s Cade Chvilicek and Keavan Borlaug and Big Sandy’s Laurence Allderdice also played.

Meanwhile in Butte, Gavin McKitrick turned out to the star for Baer’s squad, leading the Blue Team to a 32-16 win over the Red Team, at Montana Tech’s Alumni Coliseum.

McKitrick caught five passes for 66 yards, two of which were good for touchdowns, and was tabbed as the Blue Team's Offensive Player of the Game. He also made some big stops on defense.

The defensive units from both squads were a big reason as to why the offenses struggled early. By the time all was said and done, the Blue squad had intercepted five Red passes – all in the first half — while Mike Nelson’s defensive unit stole a couple of passes of its own.

Nelson, who coaches at Great Falls Central, watched as his Team broke the scoreless tie on the first play of the second quarter.

Great Falls Central’s Coulton Lewis, the Red Team’s offensive MVP, did the honors by catching an 11-yard touchdown pass from Harry Green (Belt High), and Chinook’s Tate Neideregger ran the ball into the end zone for the two-point conversion.

Sadly for the Red Team, its offense wasn’t heard from again until the fourth quarter.

Arlee’s Ty Tanner was selected as the Offensive MVP of the Red Team. The Blue Team’s Defensive Player of the Game was Schaefferkoetter. A trio of Chester-Joplin-Inverness players in Cory Richter, Cory Kelly and Brett Henke played in the game as well.
