Local Golf Report: Jensen goes really, really low

From Tee to Green...

With school letting out at the end of this week, and with my tennis season - another great one - in the books, I will now be joining the rest of you on the links. I'm not sure for my league teams that's a good thing, as obviously I'm a lot rusty, but for me, golf season has officially begun.

And one thing I always look forward to is volunteering at the Golfing For a Cure Tournament every summer. That day comes Saturday. Cancer is an important cause to us all, and I, like so many of you, have felt the dreaded disease hit close to home. I've had close family members who have battled cancer and many good friends who have either had it or had loved ones who have had it.

So I, like so many of you, look at this golf tournament as one of the most important ones of the summer, and I'm talking not just locally but anywhere. I'm proud I can help out in any way I can, and while Saturday,I'm the designated hitter for the annual event on Hole No. 6 at Prairie Farms, whether I hit good shots for all of you playing, and I do intend to try, it's the thought that counts, and I'm once again excited to be part it. And I want to say thanks to Stacy Mantle for letting me a part of what's going to be a fun and special day.

Back on the league scene, last Thursday saw women's league continue with Schubert Agency earning high-team honors with 23 points. Susie LaSalle, Micah Lee, Judi Adams and Nancy Salapich made up the squad. Sarah Spangler was low gross with a 40, while Adams was low net with a 32.

Last Tuesday in men's league at Prairie Farms, Bing-N-Bob's scored 22 points to take home high team. The team was made up of C.J. Evans, Lunar Evans, Buzz Pizzini and Jeremy Jensen. Jensen fired a 2-under par 34 to take low gross, and Gene Allen was low net with a 29. Last Wednesday, league play was canceled due to high winds.

I also heard Jensen shot an incredible 29 on Memorial Day. Not that I'm all that surprised because he's a fantastic golfer, but still, it's an incredible score. Congrats, Jeremy.

Now that tennis season and Memorial Day have come and gone, From Tee to Green will always appear in Tuesday night's Havre Daily News sports section.
