Hill County voters approved two mill levies Thursday in the special election that the voters had turned down in November's election.
The Hill County Cemetery District's request to levy an additional 4 mills passed 56 to 44 percent.
A 4 mill increase for the county's weed district passed 58 to 42 percent.
Each of the two mill levies mean homeowners with a house with a commercial value of $100,000 will pay an extra $5.40 in annual property taxes, while owners of homes valued at $200,000 will pay an additional $10.80.
Both county Departments requested the levies to ease the strain on their respective budgets.
Cemetery District Manager Merrill Gray said this morning that he and the district board want to thank the community for supporting the request.
"The district will work to fulfill our mission that cemeteries remain a place for families and their loved ones to be cared for to ensure peace of mind," he said.
Weed District Supervisor Terry Turner said this morning that the levy passing is a blessing. He said he is "very, very happy" to see people are concerned about weed control.
