Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Katie Wirtzberger, Havre Track

Havre High freshman Katie Wirtzberger had never competed in a high school track and field postseason. But that didn’t stop her from putting on a great performance at last week’s Eastern A divisional in Belgrade. Wirtzberger finished fifth in the both the 200 and 400 meters at the Eastern A, while also helping Havre’s 400 relay to a second-place finish. Wirtzberger will now be part of the Pony team that heads to state in Laurel this weekend.

Eddie Harmon, Turner Track

It’s been a big track season for Turner’s Eddie Harmon. And it’s not over yet. Last week in Great Falls, Harmon won the 400-meter dash at the Northern C Divisional. He finished the race in 52.92 edging Box Elder rival Trey Henderson at the line. Harmon also won the 400-meter 9C title two weeks ago. Harmon, who also competes in basketball for the Tornadoes, will now head to this week’s Class C state meet, which will be held in Laurel.
