Hike set at Ranger Creek for Sunday

by Havre Daily News staff

Havre Trials has invited people to go on a hike in the Bear Paw Mountains on Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation Sunday, in the area of Ranger Creek.

"The Chippewa Cree Tribe has generously granted Havre Trails a group recreation permit to hike on the reservation," Havre Trails said in a press release.

"This is a moderately difficult hike of about 6 miles on rolling terrain in a gorgeous area of the Bear Paws," the release adds.

The meeting place for the hike will be Bear Paw Ski Bowl at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The release advises hikers to leave Havre by 8:45 a.m. to head to the meeting place.

The release also advises hikers to bring sun protection, snacks, appropriate footwear and clothing, "and lots of water."

To RSVP, people are asked to send their name and phone number to [email protected]. If this hike is canceled due to inclement weather conditions, it will be reported at 8 a.m. Sunday morning on the Havre Trails Facebook page and via phone to those who RSVP.

Havre Trails also reminded people, in the press release, that they must purchase a permit from the Chippewa Cree Tribe's Natural Resources Department before hiking on their own on the reservation.
