MISSOULA — The award-winning MontanaPBS travelogue “Backroads of Montana” will premiere a new episode titled “A Stone’s Throw from Anywhere” at 8 p.m. Monday, May 22.
On this episode, curlers slide into Havre for the annual bonspiel, where the show follows a team from the town of Rudyard as they compete in one of the oldest team sports known to man.
“Backroads” also highlights two young rodeo stars-in-the-making from Worden at the Little Britches Rodeo in Laurel.
Hot Spring’s Troy DeRoche first began playing his Native American flutes as a way to sell them. But his music has taken him around the world.
And along a secondary road, the show explores the subtleties of “the old-fashioned country hello.”
William Marcus hosts the program from the monthly square dance in Plains and tries his hand at square-dance calling.
“We continue to find interesting friends and neighbors to tell stories about,” Marcus said. “We’re glad we’re able to share these stories with our viewers.”
Encore presentations are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, and 5 p.m. Saturday, May 27.
