From Havre Area Chamber of Commerce
The Assistance for Business Clinic, or ABC, is set for Wednesday, June 21, at the Hensler Auditorium in the Applied Technology Center on the Montana State Univerisity-Northern campus.
“If you are in business, you can’t afford to miss this,” said Debbie Vandeberg of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce.
Vandeberg urged people to contact the Chamber at 265-4383 soon to register.
Pre-registration is encouraged, especially for people who want Continuing Professional Education credits, Continuing Law Education credits and Human Resources credits. All-day attendance is required to receive the CPE credits.
ABC is a partnership between the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce and the state of Montana that has brought this workshop to Havre for more than 25 years as a service to the businesses.
The Chamber sponsors education opportunities for the Havre businesses.
ABC is an opportunity to learn about reporting requirements, new legislation, independent contractor issues, overtime pay, and insurance and safety requirements. Representatives from the Department of Labor and Industry which includes: Wage & Hour, Unemployment Insurance Tax and Benefits and Worker’s Comp; and the Montana Department of Revenue will be presenting at the clinic.
This sponsored clinic is geared to new and established employer/business owners to give valuable up-to-date information regarding tax rules and laws — withholding and reporting — tax credits, personnel issues and services available at the local Workforce Center. The ABC clinic is for payroll managers, bookkeepers and secretaries or anyone involved in filing reports with the state. All personnel involved in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and any aspect of labor law should attend the seminar.
The clinic, including lunch, costs $30 and will start with registration from 7:30 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. The clinic will be held from 7:55 a.m. to 5 p.m.
