Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Jacey McDonald, Havre High Softball

Havre High senior Jacey McDonald is a known commodity when it comes to hitting on the Blue Pony softball team. But even she surprised herself a little at last Saturday's Havre Invitational. Against Shelby, McDonald belted a home run and went 2-for-3 at the dish. That would be a strong day for anyone, but she was nowhere near done. McDonald also went 3-for-3 later against Conrad, including going yard for a second time on the day. McDonald, who also stands out on the volleyball court for the Blue Ponies, will hope to lead Havre to another state tourney appearance in two weeks.

Brady Ophus/Tommy Brown, Havre High Tennis

It’s obvious that the doubles teams on the Havre High boys tennis teams are all really good. And, the Helena Invitational last weekend proved that. While the senior duo of Jake Sedahl and Nate Korb made a great run in the No. 1 bracket so, too, did the tandem of junior Brady Ophus and sophomore Tommy Brown. The duo reached the championship match of the No. 3 doubles bracket in Helena, the toughest tournament in all of Montana high school tennis. The squad eventually finished second to Billings Senior. They also went a perfect 4-0 the week before in Glendive.
