Man on $200,000 bond on knife threat case

A man is in the Hill County Detention Center on more than $200,000 bond after he allegedly put a knife against someone’s throat after she refused to not tickle his back, while he was already out on bond on another assault charge.

Raistlen Katka, born in 1992, is charged with a partner of family member assault, his third, assault with a weapon and partner or family member assault — violation of contact order.

He was in jail this morning on $100,000 bond for the new charges and $100,000 for allegations of violating conditions of his release, as well as more than $1,500 on Montana Highway Patrol charges.

Charging documents say police received a call March 29 from a woman who wanted to report a domestic disturbance.

The woman told officers Katka had been staying with her and their child at her residence, despite a restraining order she had against him.

While lying in bed together, Katka asked the woman to tickle his back and when she refused he punched her in the buttock, documents say.

Katka tried to strangle the woman, left the bedroom and returned with a  knife, documents say.

Katka placed the knife against the woman’s throat and threatened to slit her throat, documents say.

The woman told officers she was scared Katka was going to kill her. He had also threatened to kill himself before the March 29 incident, documents say.

Officers noticed bruising along the woman’s neck, bruising on her right arm, a cut above her lip, and her neck and chest were red, documents say.

Katka was found and arrested April 22.

Katka is scheduled to appear for his arraignment May 22 at 8:30 a.m. in District Court.
