HHS Close Up sponsoring Donkey Basketball

From Havre High School Close Up

Havre High School Close Up is sponsoring Donkey Basketball at Havre High School Gymnasium Saturday at 7 p.m.

This is a family fun event for people of all ages in which Havre High students will ride donkeys while playing basketball.

Concessions will be available for purchase with a Taco in a Bag meal deal.

Tickets are available for presale at the high school this week during lunch hour, or at the gate. Admission prices are listed for purchases in advance, and at the gate:

• Adults — $8, $9

• Students seventh- to 12th-grade — $6, $7

• Children K to sixth-grade — $4, $5

• Pre-kindergarten — Free

Donkey Inc. is a company out of Entiat, Washington, and travels all over the northwest to schools fundraising with donkey basketball. The donkeys are well-taken care of and treated humanely throughout the event. The donkeys even wear special rubber soles to preserve the gym floors.  

Proceeds go toward Havre High Close Up students.

This year, 16 sophomores are fundraising to participate in an educational trip to Washington, D.C., in 2018.

In January of this year, five Havre High juniors attended the Close Up Inauguration program. Close Up was started at Havre High School in 2013 and has since taken more than 21 students to the nation’s capitol for a week-long civic building educational tour program.
