Chamber seeks nominations for ag leaders, advocates

The Havre Area Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness Committee and the Northern Agricultural Research Center are partnering to sponsor the NARC Field Day and Ag Appreciation Banquet Thursday, June 2,9 at the research center, and the committee is looking for suggestions on some people to honor.

The field day will include activities, tours, BBQ and an awards presentation recognizing the 2017 Outstanding Agriculture Leader and Outstanding Agriculture Advocate. These awards celebrate people who have contributed to the strength and vitality of agriculture in our communities.

OUTSTANDING AGRICULTURE LEADER:

The Outstanding Agriculture Leader Award recognizes a producer actively involved in agricultural production who has demonstrated leadership for Montana’s agriculture industry.

Examples of qualifications for this award include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Organizational membership and leadership

• Agricultural development activities

• Publications and/or educational program involvement/support

• Community service projects

• Local, state, and national accomplishments/recognition

OUTSTANDING AGRICULTURE ADVOCATE:

The Outstanding Agriculture Advocate Award recognizes a person not primarily involved in agricultural production who has devoted extraordinary efforts to promote the agricultural industry from “outside,” such as educators, business persons, retired agriculture producers, public officials, or public employees, etc.

Examples of qualifications for this award include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Role as an agricultural advocate

• Length of service to Montana agriculture

• Publications and/or educational program involvement/support

• Community service projects

• Local, state, and national accomplishments/recognition

People are asked to submit their applications by May 10, 2017, to the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce, 130 5th Ave, PO Box 308, Havre, MT. 59501. If there are questions please call the Chamber at 265-4383 or email to [email protected].

Nominations should include the nominee’s name, phone number, address, whether the nomination is for ag leader or ag advocate, the nominator’s name, phone number and address, and details on the nominee’s qualifications and accomplishments.

People are asked to remember that the selection committee may not know their nomineeand the letter of recommendation should be as complete and specific as possible.
