Letter to the Editor: Update on flag Eagle Scout project

I would like to give an update on my Eagle Scout Project that was in the Havre Daily News Dec. 30, 2016.

My project was to place drop boxes in several locations where old American flags can be dropped off and then be retired at a retirement ceremony. As of Sunday, March 26, all flag drop boxes have been set in their locations. Hingham — Spencer’s Highway Bar and Grille; Chinook — Blaine County Courthouse; Havre — Havre/Hill County Library, Holiday Village Mall and Anthony Cammon State Farm Insurance.

So far we have collected nearly 30 flags. Please feel free to drop off your old American flag at any of the these locations.

On Memorial Day, May 29th, we will be holding flag retirement ceremony for the flags we have collected. This retirement ceremony will be held at “The Bridge” (Fifth Avenue Christian Church Youth Center, south of the Havre High practice field). Everyone is welcomed and to attend this ceremony, especially veteran’s. The exact time has not yet been set, but it will be in the afternoon so it will not interfere with the annual ceremony at the Court House.

If you want to follow my project on Facebook please go to “Hi-Line American Flag Drop Box — Eagle Project.”

Thank you for your support!
