Club in the running in national contest

Havre Daily News staff

The Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line announced Wednesday that it is in the running to win a national contest — and receive a substantial grant — but it needs some online help.

The club submitted a video and funding request to the Gannett Foundation through USA Today rewarding its Health and Lifeskills programs.

The program encourages kids to exercise and play, teaches them healthy eating habits and cooking skills, and teaches them to make good decisions about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, the text with the video submission says. The Gannett Foundation is giving away a total of nine grants to three different categories, the club says in a release Wednesday, but it needs help getting to the next level.

People can vote for the club’s video once a day every day through May 12 by going online to http://act.usatoday.com, clicking on the “Vote Now” button at the bottom of the page, clicking on the search button magnifying glass and typing in “Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line.”
