Donna was born in Havre, Montana, March 2, 1929, the 13th child of Hart and Katherine (Mills) Ervin. She was raised in Kremlin, Montana, by her sister Margaret Knutson and Margaret's husband, Cliff. She graduated from Kremlin High School and married Donald W. Hamblock July 19, 1947, in Havre. They both loved to dance and anytime one of "their" songs came on the radio, Don stopped the car and they jumped out to dance in the moonlight! They made their home on the Hamblock family farm, where they raised their three children. Donna worked in town most of those years. She was employed at the Hi-way Grocery and then Don's Pharmacy for 25-plus years. She loved her yard, tending to many large gardens and maintaining her beautiful flower beds. She was always happiest with a little dirt on her hands.
Donna was a woman who loved to be busy. She taught dancing for adult education for many years; not only in Havre, but also in Chinook, Harlem, Kremlin, Hingham and Big Sandy. When Donald's legs gave out, she enlisted her daughter Lynn! She never sat down just to relax. She picked up her knitting needles or crochet hook and made countless gifts that she enjoyed giving to friends and family. A couple of years ago, her neck and shoulders started bothering her. Before it got too painful, she crocheted 10 afghans so that all her great-grandchildren will receive a gift from her when they graduate from high school.
Don retired in 1989 and they moved into town. She chose a house with lots of green space and, once again, she had lots of flowers and grass to take care of. When Don's health started to fail in 2004, they moved to the Eagles Manor. She dove right into the flower beds there, too, and turned the yard into a showcase. She was so proud when the manor received the honor of being "Yard of the Week."
Don passed away on their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007. Dec. 5, 2007, she married Robert Reed. The two made their home at the manor and had nine happy years before their health started to fail.
Donna was preceded in death by her husbands, 12 siblings, and one granddaughter.
She is survived by her son, Erv (Cheryl) Hamblock of Havre; daughters, Lynn (Wayne) Dolphay of Havre and Debra Henriksen of Livingston; sister, Chris Wipf; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
