Free car care event set in Chinook

In celebration of Spring Car Care Month in April, American Garage in Chinook is holding a free vehicle inspection day Wednesday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 40440 US Highway 2 East in Chinook.

“We are hopeful that motorists will appreciate our Car Care Month check-up event” said Scott DePriest, owner of American Garage. “We really want to stress the importance of preventative maintenance and help consumers protect their investments.”

Motorists can learn more about the benefits of performing scheduled maintenance and needed repair at this event. These free vehicle inspections can disclose potential safety and operational problems because of deficiencies such as low brake fluid or under-inflated tires. Nine out of 10 vehicles going through the check up lanes show consumer neglect according to a study released by Car Care Aware. Top problem areas are motor oil, windshield wipers, air filters, belts, hoses and lights.

Beyond the effect that vehicle neglect can have on safety, dependability and performance, a discovery during a check-up lane inspection can help prevent a breakdown or costly repair.

No appointment is necessary, simply arrive anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The inspections include checking fluid levels, tires, lights and other system components. After the inspection is completed, employees review any issues with the motorist and provide information about proper vehicle maintenance and repair. The goal of check lanes is to help motorists learn how to “Be Car Care Aware.”
