MAT brings 'Black Comedy' dinner theatre to area
The local acting troupe is putting on a special, three-weekend, two-town production of dinner theater farce in April.
The Montana Actors' Theatre production of the 1965 play "Black Comedy" by Peter Shaffer at the Beaver Creek Golf Course west of Havre April 6-8 and April 13-15, and in Chinook at the Eagles Club April 21-22.
The play tells the tale of desperate, lovesick sculptor Brindsley Miller, who has been "borrowing" items from his antique-collector neighbor while he is away. Miller hopes to impress his fianceé's pompous art-dealer father with his "collection."
When his neighbor arrives back early - just as a fuse blows - Miller has to try to return the items before the fuse is fixed.
"Unexpected guests, aging spinsters, errant phone cords and other snares impede his frantic attempts to return the purloined items before light is restored," MAT wrote in a release about the play.
The shows start with a social hour at 6 p.m. each night, then dinner at 7 p.m. and the play starting at 8 p.m.
Tickets, including dinner, are $30, and people can reserve a table for eight for $200.
Tickets for the play, produced by Lewis Heating and Air Conditioning, are available online at http://www.mtactors.com or at Fiveheads, The Computer Center, Bear Paw Meats and Greytak Realty.
