North Central Senior Citizens Center, April 3-7

Monday — Transportation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; exercise class from 10 to 11 a.m.

Tuesday — Transportation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; bingo at 1:15 p.m.

Wednesday — Transportation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; TOPS at 8 a.m.; cards at 1 p.m.

Thursday — Transportation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; cards at 1 p.m.; exercise class from 10 to 11 a.m.; Kmart/Walmart Trip from 1 to 4 p.m.

Friday — Medical transportation is available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., but requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Changes to the Lifeline Program

Lifeline is a federal program designed to help low-income a.m.ericans pay for vital telecommunications services. Important changes to the program took effect Dec. 2, including the addition of broadband services. For new subscribers, eligibility for Lifeline will be limited to the following criteria as of Dec. 2.

• Medicaid

• Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

• Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program

• Federal Public Housing Assistance

• The Veteran’s Pension or Survivor’s Pension benefit

Tribalbenefits have remained the same. Those benefits include:

• Tribal (TANF) Temporary Assistance for Needy Families

• BIA or General Assistance

• Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations

• Head Start (income eligible only)

To find out whether you qualify for Lifeline assistance, customers must fill out standard forms available at your local telephone company’s office. Customers must meet specific criteria in order to qualify for this program. You must provide proof that he/she is financially responsible, for household and participates in at least one of the programs listed or that the customer meets the income-based requirements.
