The Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited has thanked the city of Havre for its assistance in collecting Christmas Trees, providing habitat for fish at Fresno Reservoir.
With the assistance of FWP, the Fresno Chapter distributed Christmas Trees around Fresno Reservoir during the month of March.
"A big thank-you goes out to the communities of Havre, Big Sandy, Chinook and all other surrounding communities that donated trees," the chapter said in a press release. "The club looks forward to making this an annual event to improve fish habitat at Fresno Reservoir and would like to thank everyone for their support."
A release said the Havre city government was a "huge help in collecting and storing the trees for us."
The chapter says it hopes to make the tree collection and planting an annual event.
The project was funded through the Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited and a FWP grant.
This year, the group collected about 120 trees. They bundled the trees into groups of six to 10 trees, tied them together using cinder blocks for weights, and placed them in various spots around the reservoir to provide fish habitat.
