Hi-Line girls honored for hoops

The District 9C was loaded with quality girls basketball teams this winter. And that's why it should come as no surprise that so many 9C players made the Class C All-State list.

In all, six 9C players were honored with Northern C All-State honors for the 2016-17 season, led by three from 9C champion Box Elder, while two players from Fort Benton and one from North Star were honored.

Box Elder's Lilly Gopher, Minnie The Boy and Joelnell Momberg were all Northern C for the season, and all three players were also named First-Team District 9C. Fort Benton senior Coya Nack and sophomore Leah Gannon also earned all Northern C honors, as well as First-Team 9C, while North Star sophomore Paij Peterson did the same.

The rest of the Northern C All-State list was composed of Sara Anderson, Dani Urick and Kerstyn Pimperton from state champion Belt, Bryn Anderson and Kenadee Depner from Great Falls Central, Lorianne Stulcz from Roy-Winifred and Cecilia Vielle and Peyton Vining from Centerville.

As for 9C honors, the rest of the First Team was made up of Chinook's Sierra Swank and Brooke Elliot, Turner's Ella Billmayer and North Star's Sheridan Spicher.

The 9C Second Team was composed of Fort Benton's Kaitlyn Bird, Hays-Lodge Pole's Rayleigh Kirkaldie, Chester-Joplin-Inverness' Kendahl Knapton, North Star's Katelyn Hansen and Box Elder's Tia Russell and Nikayla Anderson.

Box Elder's Joel Rosette was named 9C Coach of the Year.
