Missing our mate!

There is a face we can’t forget, no matter time of year.

Through rough season, those stormy days; at times our way’s not clear.

Though he is gone we won’t forget the things he loved to do.

Some guys liked cars, horses or cows or fish the whole day through.

There is a chill that Autumn brings with flashes of regret.

But time slips by and brings to light pleasures we won’t forget.

Each one of us who’s lost a Mate, we miss them, oh, so much.

Their sparkling eyes, their special love, and oh, their gentle touch.

Our spirit says: ‘I love you so’; they’re always in our heart.

Meanwhile we keep on moving on, someday we’ll never part.

These special folks, they were the best; they worked hard day or night,

Till God called them to come on home, they worked with all their might.

One girlfriend’s mate loved his ranch life, and fast horses, not slow!

Ruth Ann’s dear one loved planting seeds and watching those crops grow.

J.J.’s dear one loved milking cows, branding and riding range.

While Sally’s mate, a city dude, thought country life was strange.

Sometimes the gals leave ‘fore the guys, see heaven and God’s throne!

Then guys must learn to cook and clean, and for a time, they’re thrown.

Seems as we age we know more folks who’ve lost their special mate.

We’re all alone, they’ve gone ahead; ‘time’ simply does not wait.

Oh, we could name a host folks and name their dear ones’ trait.

Teacher, preacher, a dozen more, we know they’re all first rate.

God gave each one of us a gift, the key is Love, of course.

We are to ‘give’ love as God says — for He is the true source.

‘Time’ races on, stops for no one, our loved one waits above.

Soon we will see our dear loved one, when God calls us in love.
