Speech team sets awards dinner for Tuesday

The Havre High School speech and debate team is holding a pizza party Tuesday at 6 p.m. to recognize its Blue Pony speakers and their family and friends.

The event will start at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria with dinner. Following the meal, the coaches will talk about the season and recognize the competitors for their achievements this year and throughout their careers.

Havre won numerous tournaments with multiple speakers placing, including first-place finishes, during the invitational season.

All of Havre’s divisional competitors qualified for state this year, with one speaker taking second after losing a tie-breaking procedure for first place.

Havre also had two speakers qualify as alternates for the National Speech and Debate Associaiton National Tournament, slated for June in Birmingham, Alabama.
