The Chippewa Cree Tribe is offering a $1,000 reward for credible information that could lead to the location of Richard “Smokey” Roastingstick, said Ed Longknife, a Rocky Boy Police detective and the lead investigator on the case.
Longknife said Wednesday the money will come from funds set aside for the reservation's law enforcement.
The family of Roastingstick, 57, reported him missing Feb 13.
Longknife said Roastingstick was last seen the night of Feb 10 walking south on an unpaved road near the Northern Winz Casino. Lea Falcon Robertson, a female companion was the last known person to see Roastingstick, Longknife said.
Holly Roastingstick, the missing man’s sister, said her niece received a message Friday asking her to come get Roastingstick’s red four-door Kia that was left abandoned on the road where he was last seen.
Rocky Boy Police have received seven leads about Roastingstick’s whereabouts but none have been fruitful, Longknife said. He said that Roastingstick is not being sought in connection with any crime.
“He is just a missing person at this point,” Longknife said.
Roastingstick is between 5 foot, 7 inches and 5 foot, 9 inches and between 150 and 160 pounds with dark hair.
People with information on Roastingstick’s whereabouts are asked to Rocky Boy Police at 395-4513. Longknife can be reached at 390-0980.
