Northern holding job fair, all campus majors represented

A record 46 employers will take part in Montana State University-Northern’s 2017 Spring Career Fair Thursday in Northern’s Armory Gymnasium, said Mary Heller, director of Northern’s Career Center.

Heller said the fair, which is for current Northern students and alumni, will showcase career opportunities for those in all the majors that Northern has to offer.

“Every major that we have on campus will be represented by the employers,” Heller said.

Those employers include Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks; CG AG Consulting from Cut Bank; General Electric Transportation; and Wartsilla of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Heller said that eight health care providers, including Northern Montana Health Care, Rocky Boy Health Center, Benefis Health System and Phillips County Hospital, will have representatives at the fair,

A total of 15 employers will have representatives seeking out students in Northern’s celebrated automotive, diesel and ag mechanics program.

Other employers at the fair will include Independence Bank, Tilleman Motor Co. and local offices of the U.S. Border Patrol, the Hill County Farm Service Agency and area school districts.

Heller said she tells students the fair is a great chance to make a first impression on employers. She said she advises them to  dress professionally, bring multiple copies of their edited resume and be prepared to address employers in a professional manner.

The fair is 9 a.m to noon. Those attending can enter the gymnasium through the north doors facing Vande Bogart Library.
