Grief Poem Feb. 3, 2017

Going Home

Do dear ones see that we have changed; and lift us up in prayer?

We sometimes feel we’ll drift away — that life is not real fair.

We miss our dear, they’ve gone ahead; we struggle hard, some days.

We tell stores or sing some songs as we give God our praise.

These last few days some fear set in — so — where did we come from?

We seem so far away today, our mind is mostly numb.

We think ‘bout them most all the time. They seem to call: “COME HOME!”

“Let me tell you that I love you, no more you’ll need to roam!”

We keep on moving all the time, sometimes we travel hard,

They’re calling us; we’re going home while keeping up our guard.

“You weary ones, come unto me,” (1) our LORD tells us, “Come rest.”

Sometimes we need to take a break; we know it’s for the best.

We need the SUN of righteousness, to shine and lead the way.

We need the joy of Jesus, too, mostly when days are gray.

Our grief is like heavy burdens, our thinking is not clear.

Though family/friends are precious folks, we miss our special dear.

We’re looking for the coming Christ; we want to be with HIM!

HE’S comin’ soon, we’re sure of that; the ‘day’ be bright or dim.

Life is so short, live, laugh and love and don’t forget to smile.

My loved one calls, I’m going home though it might take a ‘while’!
