North Central Senior Citizens Center, Jan. 30 to Feb. 3

Monday — Transportation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tuesday — Transportation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; bingo at 1:15 p.m.

Wednesday — Transportation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; TOPS at 8 a.m.; cards at 1 p.m.

Thursday — Transportation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; cards at 1 p.m.; Kmart/Walmart shopping from 1 to 4 p.m.

Friday — Medical transportation is available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. but a request must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

United Way

It’s the United Way of Hill County 2017 Campagn once again, and we have been selected as one of the agencies to be recpients of their community wide program. The funding we receive is used for the home delivered meals program and our volunteer program. You have been strong supporters of our Senior Program and the United Way. We would appreciate your continued support for the 2017 year. For further information on donations contact the Senior Center or a United Way representative of your choice. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much. If we all give just a little, I know we will be successful. You can pick up a copy of the pledge form at the Senior Center.

When you support the United Way, you also support the Senior Center.

Center exercise class resumes

Every Monday, except holidays, it’s time to exercise from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Senior Center back room. Hope to see you there. Classes will begin Feb. 6

Thoughts for Caregiving

Caregiving can be a rewarding and life-affirming experience. It can also be draining and exhausting. Whether you give care to others as a proessional, a vounteer, a relative, or a friend, you can sometimes forget about your own needs. Yet to effectively take care of others you must first take care of yourself. Caregiver therpay can help you keep your life in balance as you care for others.

• Sometime when you’re giving care, others may choose not to receive it. When this happens, honor their right to do so, and know that the time will come to offer your help again.

• You may feel angry at times in your caregiving. Maybe there’s been unclear communication or you’ve forgotten to take care of yourself. Find a safe and appropriate way to express your anger, and know it will clear the path for closeness and love.

• Practice gratitude. It lightens your load, softens your heart, and reminds you to let go of the outcome. Being grateful paves the way for acceptance.

We will from time to time be publishing suggestions to help with the difficulties of caregiving.
