Focus on blessings
We know, Lord, that You perform many wonders for us; many times we hardly pay attention. We should “focus” on what is going on right around us.
A friend observed a blessing the other day. She shared that she just happened to be sitting near two gals chatting at a diner. They were sharing, caring, encouraging each other when suddenly the head cook appeared with two dessert plates, which they had not ordered. Each plate had a wedge of triple chocolate cake! He quietly and quickly set the plates down, wished them well and then he vanished. That almost brought tears to the one observing as she could see how touched the two ladies were. One softly said. “Chocolate was my hubby’s most favorite dessert.” What a blessing to hear and then to see the gift from the chef. That’s small-town America for you, people caring for each other.
At a grocery store a lady asked if the box boy could help her dig a penny out of the ice. The clerk and the box boy looked at her like — what? She asked if they didn’t know the rhyme: “See a penny pick it up, all the day you’ll have good luck. See a penny let it lay, bad luck you’ll have all day. Give a penny to a friend, and then your luck will never end.”
Nope, they’d not heard that. Outside, the lad asked where the penny was, then saw it imbedded in ice! He scraped his boot over it, then bent down and picked it up. As he handed it to the lady, she noticing his sad look; she said, “Oh! Look, your lucky day, you found a penny!” He smiled, “Are you sure? I really do need some luck today.”
Your wonders are mentioned, in Psalms 136:4: “To Him who alone does great wonders: for His mercy endures for ever!” Thank You, Lord for Your many blessings.
Love, Mara
