Local Bowling Report: Challenge Tournament on the way

Ten Pin Chatter

It was a pretty quiet week at the lanes. I think everyone felt the same as we did. The holiday’s are over and we can kick back and relax a bit.

Our next event at Harvest Moon Lanes is the Challenge Tournament. It is scheduled for Jan. 21. If you have never bowled this tournament, you need to try it. You bowl one game across six sets of lanes that are dressed with a different oil pattern, which makes things very interesting, hence the challenge. It’s a very fun tournament everyone can enjoy. It’s scratch scores, but each bowler also receives a handicap depending on the average. After everyone bowls their six games we cut to the top 12 high scores, which they bowl a position round. We then cut to the top five bowlers who will bowl a step ladder event which will give us the outcome of first place. The cost of the tournament is $60 per bowler. The top 12 bowlers will receiver prize money. First place is guaranteed $500 based on 36 entries, but we also have lots of added prize money to add to the purse. So come out and sign up, you won’t be disappointed and you’ll have a blast. The tournament starts at 1 p.m. and usually runs till 7 p.m.

A quick note about Jackpot Bowling Saturday’s at 8 p.m. We are increasing the pots. Two pots of $40 and a strike pot that will be $60. Call to reserve your lanes.
