Barbara was born July 18, 1935, in Havre to W. P. "Jack" and Lucille (Hamblock) Green. She was raised in Havre, and attended Havre High School.
Barbara trained as a ballet dancer in Great Falls, and performed with a ballet troupe in Chicago for a time.
Soon after high school, Barbara married David J. Abbott, and the couple had four children. For the first several years, the couple moved often while David received his schooling, finally settling in Texas, where he was a practicing physician, and where they raised their children.
Barbara worked hard as a homemaker, caring for the children and their home, and spending as much time as possible with her beloved husband David. In 1993, the couple returned to Havre, where Barbara could spend time with family and old friends.
Barbara was a kind and loving woman who, over the years, volunteered in homeless shelters and was a philanthropist to many worthwhile charities that focused on helping children and families. She adored her family and every moment spent with them was truly cherished.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. David J. Abbott, in 2015; her parents, W. P. "Jack" and Lucille Green; and her siblings, Robert Green, Jacqueline Gagne and James Green.
Barbara is survived by her sons, David Abbott of Waxahachie, Texas, and Sean P. Abbott of San Antonio, Texas; her daughters Leann (Barney) Nicholson of Shreveport, Liousiana, and Jeanette Howell of Wharton, Texas; her 10 grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Green of Havre and Marylinn Green of Santa Maria, California; and numerous nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Ann (Barry) Remus of Havre.
