Daryl Wright II narrowly prevailed over eight challengers in Tuesday’s special election on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation for an open seat on the Chippewa Cree Business Committee.
Official election results certified by the tribe, show that Wright won with 64 votes, while Michael “Big Mike” Corcoran came in second with 60 votes. Dustin Whitford and Russell Standing Rock tied for third place with 59 votes each.
Jolene Crebs received 56 votes, and Melvin “Junior” Morsette and Laurie Sun Child each received 46 votes.
Candidates Michele Billy and Donovan Stump rounded out the field with 38 and 8 votes respectively.
Wright will finish out the term of Harlan Gopher Baker, who vacated his seat in November when he was sworn in as tribal chairman.
