Morris A Mavencamp, 78, fourth son of Fred and Helen Mavencamp, died at home Jan. 3, 2017.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for a later date. Condolences for the family may be left at http://www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.
Morris was born in Malta and raised on the family ranch at Whitewater. He attended the Frenchman School and graduated from Whitewater High School.
He worked at Hi-Line Steel, Malta; Big Flat Electric, Malta; Flathead Power Project, Polson and Flathead Electric, Kalispell. Morris married Barbra McMullen in Whitewater.
Morris loved being outdoors fishing; hunting; riding his horse, Goldie;, felling trees, and chopping wood. He built a small log cabin in the backyard of his home, numbered the logs for transport to a cabin site and rebuilt it. He remodeled several homes and built one new. His retirement hobby was riding his scooter around town.
He loved his family and nothing made him happier than when they visited. He was very vocal about his politics and liked to give advice.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Havre; daughter, Audrey (Marty) Barger of Havre; son, Daniel (Kathy) Mavencamp of Rockwall, Texas; grandsons, Spencer (Brandy) Barger of Havre; Madison Barger of Lakewood, Washington; sister-in-law, Wilma Mavencamp of Malta and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Don, Bud and Monte, and one sister, Barbara Henderson.
