Farm credit awards grant to Big Flat Grocery

Press release

Northwest Farm Credit Services has announced it is awarding the Big Flat Grocery in Turne $1,500 Northwest FCS Rural Community Grant.

"Big Flat Grocery thanks Northwest Farm Credit Services for the generous grant," said Shannon Van Boast, director of the store. "The building that we operate out of is in need of continued maintenance. This grant will help us re-stucco the exterior of the building, which will be completed in phases as additional funds are raised."

Northwest Farm Credit Services awarded more than $265,000 to 170 projects in 2016 in rural communities across Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Since the program's inception in 2007, it has awarded 634 grants totaling more than $1.2 million.

The next rural grant deadline is Feb. 1. People who think a rural project may be eligible for a grant can visit northwestfcs.com/Stewardship/Rural-Communities for more information and an application.
