Havre Public Schools Education Foundation is holding the 12th Annual Holiday Hoops Alumni Basketball Game Monday, Dec. 26, at the Havre Middle School.
"The HPS Education Foundation appreciates any and all support from our community," a press release says. "The purpose of the foundation is to help the students and educators of Havre with small grants and scholarships, which would not be possible without the support of the wonderful people and businesses in Havre."
The event begins at 5 p.m. and admission is once again a nonperishable food item for the Havre Food Bank. To start the evening, players and fans may have a bowl of chili, made by PJ's, accompanied by a bag of Fritos, a cookie and a beverage of choice. Along with the beverage will be a souvenir koozie to keep the beverage cold and it will have a picture of the soon-to-be-available Blue Pony license plate, a recent project of the Foundation. The meal costs $7.
Following the Chili Feed and the chance to visit with alumni still in Havre and those home for the holidays, the games will begin about 6 p.m. The game invites the players from the past to get back on the floor for some friendly competition, but being a past Blue Pony basketball player isn't necessary, any Havre High School alumni is welcome to play. Anyone not already signed up who would like to play may contact Patch Wirtzberger at 399-0619 or Grayson Winsor at 680-2323 to sign, up but being pre-registered isn't a requirement. Anyone who decides at the last minute to participate can just show up Monday evening and get on a team.
"After the game is over there will be some prize drawings for players and for fans," the release says. "Come out for an evening of good food, enjoyable conversation and entertaining basketball and maybe win a prize."
