Havre education foundation helps Havre High golf team

Fundraisers on the horizon

Press release

During half time of the Blue Ponies' season-opener basketball game Friday evening, Havre Public Schools Education Foundation Board of Directors member and Treasurer Julie Monson presented Havre High School Activities Director Dennis Murphy, with a check for $620 for the golf team.

The funds are to cover the cost of divisional and state tournament fees. The money presented is made possible by the Bob Rangvold Memorial Funds entrusted to the foundation specifically for the golf team.

The purpose of the foundation is to raise money and then award it to students and educators in the form of small grants, scholarships and, in this case, keep funds and disburse them as per the request of the donor.

A couple ways the foundation hopes to raise money to continue help for Havre Public Schools students is the upcoming 12th Annual Holiday Hoops Alumni Basketball Game.

The game is planned for Monday, Dec. 26, at 5 p.m. at Havre Middle School. Patch Wirtzberger and Grayson Winsor are currently recruiting alumni to participate in the game. Chili, fixings and a beverage of choice will be served at 5 p.m. with the game or games starting around 6 p.m. Anyone who would like to play in the evening competition can contact Wirtzberger at 399-0619 or at Koefod Agency or Winsor at 680-2323 or at Master Sports.

People not planning to play in the game can come out and watch alumni of all ages get back on the court. More detailed information will be available soon.

Early next year another fundraiser will begin. The foundation is sponsoring a Blue Pony license plate that will be available in late January or early February. The foundation directors said they are very excited about this project and have heard positive feedback from people who have learned about it. Look for more information and a photo of the license plate in the near future.
