Montana Department of Environmental Quality announced it has approved clean-up activities for the petroleum release at Bikini Coffee in Chinook, and it may impact traffic and prevent access to the business.
DEQ said in a public notice that The clean-up activities are required by DEQ under Montana law and administrative rules. The DEQ Petroleum Tank Cleanup Section requested, reviewed, and approved a plan prepared and submitted by Olympus Technologies Inc. on behalf of the owner/operator of the facility, Inman Property.

The work to be conducted under the plan at the facility, located at 101 Indiana St. in Chinook, will include excavation of petroleum contaminated soils at the facility and will take place at the end of November to early December. The work will involve the use of an excavator and dump trucks. Soil will be hauled to a nearby permitted landfarm for remediation. Traffic may be impacted near the site and access to the Bikini Coffee Shop may be limited or unavailable.
