Clack Museum receiving donations

Judy Dritshulas, chair of the H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum Board, said during the board’s monthly meeting that the H. Earl and Margaret Turner Clack Memorial Museum Foundation has been receiving  offers of donated items to be displayed when the museum opens up at its future location in the Griggs Printing building on the 400 Block of First Street.

“It does seem that a lot of people are coming forward with things their family would like to donate,” she said.

Such proposed donations include an antique weather station from the early 1900s now in the care of Hank and Donna Tweeten that used to be on the Buttrey’s Building which is now the Atrium Mall.

“Anyway, I thought this might be a really neat thing,” Dritshulas said.

Other proposed items from people include a pair of boots that were owned by longtime Hill County Sherrif Roscoe “Doc” Timmons, old medical items, a pair of old-fashioned pant stretchers and carbon paper and oil used for a typewriter.

Dritshulas said people who want to find out more about how to donate items can contact the museum at 265-4000.

The museum will host its annual Dinosaur Christmas Saturday, Dec. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. outside the mall’s location in the Holiday Village Mall. Dritshulas said the event is meant for children from preschool to elementary school age. This year, costumed dinosaurs will be at the event, which also includes cookie decorating, crafts and decorating gingerbread houses.
