Donald Barry Baker of Lewistown, 70, passed away from cancer Nov. 1, 2016, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls.
Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of his life will be held in Lewistown at Snowy Lanes Bowling Alley Saturday, Nov. 12, starting at 3 p.m. then in Havre Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Elks Club starting at 3 p.m.
Affectionately known as "Bubbles," Donny was born in Lewistown March 7, 1946, to Tom and Jessie Baker. He was raised in Havre and attended St. Jude's and Havre Central.
After high school, Donny served in the U.S. Army then graduated with a degree in business from the University of Montana. He bartended for a while, then went to work for Baker Amusements in Havre. He moved to Lewistown and owned and operated Shaver's Music. He eventually sold that and went to work at Snowy Lanes Bowling Alley and Hi-Heat Industries.
Donny loved watching sports and was a big fan of the Grizzlies. He liked to golf and bowl. He also enjoyed visiting with his cousin Tim Gillen and friends at the Snow Lanes Bowling Alley. Every October, he would go up to Havre to hunt in the NLASF Pheasant Jamboree, a fundraiser for Montana State University-Northern athletics.
He is survived by his sisters, Sandy (Ron) Olmstead, Kathy (Jerry) Engleson, Janet (Jim) Branden and brother, Tom (Debbie) Baker, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and a brother-in-law, Bob Gaskill.
Donny appreciated the kindness that was shown to him during his illness, including the rides to Great Falls in the Disabled American Veterans van for medical treatment.
