Auditions slated for 'Jesus Christ Superstar'

Montana Actors’ Theatre has set auditions for the Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice play “Jesus Christ Superstar,” a musical with productions touring around the world more than 40 years after it debuted on Broadway.

The play tells the story of the last days of Jesus Christ, told through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.

MAT’s auditions are set to start at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, and Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Montana State University-Northern’s Little Theatre on the bottom floor of the west end of Cowan Hall.

The cast listed includes Jesus Christ, tenor A2-G5; Judas Iscariot, tenor, D3-D5; Mary Magdelene, mezzo-soprano F3-E-flat-5; Pontius Pilate, barite nor, A2-B4; Caiphas, bass C-Shrp-2-F4; Annas, countertenor, G2-D5; Peter, baritone, A2-G4; Simon Zealotes, tenor, G3-B4; King Herod, tenor, C-sharp-3-G4, along with a large chorus of men, women and some children.
