MSU-N wins wrestling debut; Lights fall at Carroll

The Montana State University-Northern wrestling team had a successful season debut, beating the North Idaho College Cardinals 25-16 Saturday night in Havre.

The fourth-ranked Lights got wins from Dylan Veis (141), Drake Randall (149), Tommy Cooper (157), Andrew Bartel (174), Ben Stroh (197) and Taylor Kornoely (HWT) in their season-opener.

Things didn't go as well for the Northern football team, which fell at Carroll College, 49-14. The Lights, who dropped to 1-7, got two late touchdowns by Ethan Snow, but the Fighting Saints were already ahead 42-0 before Northern got on the board.

Zach McKinley rushed for 119 yards for the Lights.
