Bill was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania, to William H. and Mabel (Muntz) Keim. He was raised in Shoemakersville, Perry Township, graduating from Perry Township High School. For one year following his graduation, Bill worked for Glove Underwear Company as a power machine cutter.
March 10, 1943, he entered the U.S. Army, and served for 2 ½ years, resulting in his being wounded three times and receiving a Purple Heart and two oak leaf clusters, before his honorable discharge Nov. 27, 1945.
While on leave, on July 24, 1944, Bill married Betty Jane Reppert, and after his discharge, the two were inseparable for the next 63 years. They made their home in Leesport, Pennsylvania, where they raised their son Kevin, and Bill worked as a meter reader for First Energy.
After 31 years there, Bill retired in 1986. The couple often traveled throughout the U.S., making sure to visit their son Kevin and his family every year. In 2002, Bill and Betty moved once again, to Havre, to be near their son and his family. Betty passed away in 2008.
Bill enjoyed hunting, short trips to Atlantic City with Betty, traveling, and watching sports, especially baseball, football, and women's college basketball. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and his breakfasts with Gus Korb were the highlight of his week.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Keim; his son, Kevin Keim; his parents, William H. and Mabel Keim; and his brothers, Don and Larry Keim.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Cindy Keim of Havre; his two grandchildren, Bethanie (Nick) Knight of Glasgow, and Andy Keim of Havre; his great-granddaughter Tenley Knight; his two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
