Havre schools hire 9

The Havre Public School Board of Trustees approved Monday the hiring of nine additional school personnel.

“For the first time this year, we’re finally fully staffed with paraprofessionals,” Superintendent Andy Carlson said after yesterday’s school board meeting.

A paraprofessional educator, or a para, is a teaching-related position within a school. The para is usually responsible for specialized or concentrated assistance for students in elementary and secondary schools.

Tammy Lafond, Lincoln-McKinley Primary School para, and Nicole Cartwright, Havre Middle School para, were the two paraprofessional approved. Leslie Rose and Jill Miller, who will be working as substitutes and paras, were also approved.

Four others were approved as substitute teachers, Lita Cammon, Rose Hayes, Frances Boskovach-Miller and Jamie Stoll.

Carlson said the substitutes will work at all of the Havre public schools and the district takes their age-preference and training into consideration.

The board also approved hiring William Kilgore as the high school swim coach.
