Experience, record show Sandefur best for Supreme Court

Editor,

For over 18 years I had the privilege of serving the citizens of Havre, first as city attorney and then as the 12th Judicial District judge for Chouteau, Hill and Liberty counties.

I met Dirk Sandefur when he was a beat cop in Havre. I found his judgment, demeanor, knowledge of the law, common sense and actions under pressure to be outstanding.

Later, I had the honor of serving on the Montana Supreme Court. As a Supreme Court justice I reviewed a number of District Judge Sandefur’s ruling. Judge Sandefur also sat as a member of the Supreme Court on a number of cases.

I know that Judge Sandefur has an exceptionally keen and discerning judicial mind. He is a highly respected district judge and very well-suited to become a Supreme Court justice. He is a student of the law, fair, impartial and respectful to all who come before the court. He will adhere to the most fundamental principle that a judge and a justice must follow the law and not any particular ideology. All litigants, rich and poor, weak and powerful, individuals and groups, partnerships and corporations will find Justice Sandefur shall give them thoughtful, fair and impartial consideration.

I respectfully request that the voters consider the true record and experience of the candidates for the Montana Supreme Court and vote for Judge Dirk Sandefur.

Justice John Warner, retired

Missoula
