Brett Henke, CJI Football
The Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks were in a do-or-die game last Friday night, and, in the moment, running back Brett Henke came through. Henke rushed for 200 yards and scored four times in the Hawks' win over Power-Dutton-Brady, a win that clinched a playoff berth for CJI. Henke scored on runs of 1, 1, 4 and 1 yards to help CJI win its fourth straight game. Henke is a two-way standout for the Hawks, who close the regular season Wednesday at Fort Benton.
Tia Russell, Box Elder Volleyball
Box Elder is surging in volleyball, and a big help to that is the recent play of senior Tia Russell. The All-State basketball standout has come on strong for the Bears' volleyball team as of late, and she did again as Box Elder beat Rocky Boy and Geraldine-Highwood last week. Russell averaged five kills and two aces in Box Elder's two non-conference wins last week, and she and the Bears are looking to make some noise in the upcoming District 6C East tournament next week in Chinook.
